It was a hot one today. Good day for a religious figure to get into presumably more agreeable temperatures. I’m a little skeptical about the heart rate numbers; it really didn’t not feel like I was working as hard as my chest strap says I was. The ride was pleasant and at no point did I feel like I was overtaxing myself. Those old guys towards the end obviously felt overburdened by their clothing....
It had been kinda rainy lately, and in fact it started up again just now, but there was a window of beautiful weather this morning, so I jumped on it. And so did thousands of slugs. First time out riding in 3 weeks, but we were getting plenty of exercise on foot, exploring Brussels, Essen, Berlin and Leipzig for a week. More about that on Ye Olde Regensblogge. Today I thought I’d like another one of those Steckerlfisch for lunch like on my previous ride, so I planned a route through Obertrauling; but alas. No fish stand to be found. I did stop at Khoros for a Dürüm Kebap in Burgweinting, but it’s been a long time since I had one of those, and I’d forgotten how generous they are for 5€....
I did a Saturday ride instead of Sunday because yesterday, the weather seemed more promising for today than for tomorrow. I was exhausted on Friday night after not sleeping well most of the week, and even after a 2-hour late Friday afternoon nap, I went to bed at a reasonable hour and slept all the way through to 6:30 Saturday morning. We made sure to black out the Jalousien and even close the bedroom door to block out as much light as possible....
