It was quite cold this morning when I started out, but it was almost pleasant in the sun while not moving. Full sun while moving was tolerable at least, but moving in the shade almost wasn’t. Should have worn my gloves, but I thought I’d warm up more than I actually did. Last week I meant to do this route, but I wussed out at the temperature in the morning and cut it short....
I’m still getting back into the swing of biking. This time I remembered to wear my delicate-biker-tushy-underwear, but I still got cold kinda early (trying out a new helmet I bought for the summer, with much better airflow…not ready for that quite yet, I guess). So I turned south early and hopped the river a couple times before coming back via Irl and the Conti test track instead of Donaustauf, Barbing, and Harting....
I’m back in the saddle for the first time this year. Lots of reasons why only now; none of them are good. My route looks like a snail, which might explain my sluggishness (that’s one of those cross-language puns). Snaps Here I am, happy to be outdoors and in motion again. I enjoyed the route the last time I followed the Naab — at least the first part of it. I repeated that this time, but on purpose at the Ederer car dealership and gas station outside of Etterzhausen, I went north instead of east and headed up the Goldberg. It turns into dirt/gravel road pretty quick, so be aware of that. And it got steeper, quicker than I expected. So much so, that I got off and walked a bit (haven’t had to do that in a while, but my pulse was racing, and that’s not was I was going for)....
I needed to burn off some energy after a frustrating work week. Thus the zigzagging you see in the football stadium’s parking lot (southeast corner of my route). The snaps aren’t great because of how dark it was already. I anticipated this, so I shot a video of basically the southwest corner of my route to the northwest corner. You’ll want to turn the sound off for that. It’s not pleasant....
