Over the Donau to Donaustauf, then Obertraubling and Oberhinkofen

I intended this week’s ride to be a little on the short side, but I missed a turn in Obertraubling, tried to invent a new route to Oberhinkofen, had to backtrack, and got there the long way. It was cold, but not unbearably so, and a hot jamaica break in Obertraubling was a good way to warm up internally. Pielenhofen via Adlersberg and back along the Naab

Today’s route was supposed to trace the Danube back more of the way home, but even before the halfway point at — you guessed it! — Bad Abbach, my feet were hurting from the cold. So at Großprüfening I cut it short....

Sinzing Ring

Snaps I started off crossing the Danube at Kleinprüfening. Notice the water level. This was warning sign #1 and will be important later. I got all the way up the hill above Eilsbrunn (home of Gaststätte Röhrl, the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records. I’ve eaten there a few times. It’s good.) before taking a break. That hill was serious. Zooming down from there towards Hardt was fun....
