Kicking off the year a bit late with a start in early March…but BLTN. Inner monologue: Mmm, a BLT Now. I needed to get some groceries for the weekend and the upcoming week, so my plan to was to stop at a REWE on the way back. And I did, but not where I expected. Rather, along Pilsen Allee in Brandlberg (you can see it in the map below as the little blue notch on the long straight north/south line....
It was cold and wet — not rainy, just moist. That’s the weather I like, typically. But my feet got achingly cold. From here on out towards spring, I guess I’ll need insulated boots and warmer socks. Snaps The bike-mounted snaps are off by an hour in their timestamps because I still haven’t set that camera’s clock for Winterzeit. It’s been a while since I biked and recorded a route and route about it. Which is not good, of course, but better late than never. This was a nice, gentle step back into it. I was debating whether to do a short loop through Leoprechting and Graß, or a longer loop down to Bad Abbach, and in the end I split the difference and opted for Scharmassing and Neudorf and Hohengebraching as waypoints....
I did one of my most common routes this morning, but I changed it up by stopping for lunch at the Zunftstüberl outside of Matting for lunch. I was cruising by, making good time, and I thought Dang, a Radler sounds great about now. So I pulled in at the Zunftstüberl. Couple points to mention: Great Kartoffelsuppe with chopped up hotdog in it. Their warme Küche doesn’t start until 11:30; don’t let that mess up your plans....
My biking routine got messed up by a flat tire I discovered at the start of last week’s would-be ride. This past Saturday afternoon I pumped up the tire again and cautiously took a lap around the parking garage. Seemed okay. I let it rest overnight. Seemed okay. I did a cautious ride yesterday to make sure I was not too far from home to push my bike back if need be....
